Podcasts and Audio clips

AUDIO ONLY AT THE AUTHOR'S REQUEST: Author Ted Chiang (EXHALATION, STORIES OF YOUR LIFE AND OTHERS) joins the show to reflect on having his work adapted by director Denis Villeneuve into the 2016 film “Arrival.” In episode 324, Luke Elliott & James Bailey add to their “Creative Conversations” series where they discuss adaptations previously covered on Ink to Film with someone directly involved in their creation. Topics include the origins of the “Story of Your Life,” why determinism is essential for the existence of free will, the narrative convenience of having a fate you can change, how screenwriter Eric Heisserer managed to adapt a story thought to be unfilmable, Ted’s visit to the set, and who might be a good fit for a future Ted Chiang adaptation.

In 2016 The Arthur C. Clarke Center for Human Imagination hosted a conversation and Q&A with Ted Chiang, whose novella "Story of Your Life" provided the basis of the screenplay.
