2025 QuickRead Pack
This reading comprehension resource is suitable for upper primary and lower secondary students. It contains 20 quickread handouts. Each quickread handout includes a short amount of text, a pre-reading exercise and a post reading exercise all of which can be completed in 5-10 minutes.
This resource has been designed not to test but to build students’ reading abilities. So post reading activities will outline and get students to practise using strategies to identify main ideas, comprehend facts, infer meaning and work out the meaning of words in context. Each quickread handout focuses on only 1-2 strategies.
The quick read resource has been created to be used as a quick and frequent activity at the beginning and end of lessons, to break up lessons or as a homework task. They can be printed out or projected on a whiteboard. The quickread pack contains a variety of different text types: fiction, poetry, persuasive pieces and non-fiction.
