These come from Project Rockit
1 Change your passwords, making sure that they're different for each social media platform platform. Also, using numbers and symbols will make passwords harder to hack. And keep 'em secret too (duh)...
2 Check how your social profiles look to strangers. On Facebook you can use the View As feature to see the public version of your timeline. Is anything visible to non-friends that shouldn't be (photos, phone number, birth date, email address)?
3 Add a passcode (not your birthday) to your smartphone, especially if you use it to access a range of social media apps (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram). This can prevent both pranks and nasty hacks.
4 If you use geolocators on your smartphone to 'check in' at various locations, make sure that locations displayed online are only visible to your friends and approved followers. If you don't like the idea of having your exact location pinpointed, you can always turn geolocators off.
5 Go through the photo library on your phone and delete anything that could be used to humiliate you or that you just wouldn't want others to see (e.g. your embarrassing collection of selfies!)
Ouch!
